My practice as a visual artist is focused on creating bridges - physical or symbolic - between individuals and / or communities; that have different cultures and geographic spaces. My work has transversal axes as: marginality, exclusion and invisibility. These are related to deep issues such as: migration, racism and particularly the historical memory associated with the internal armed conflict in Peru (1980 - 2000), which I have been developing for two years, creating a Memory Space with a specific community.
Formally, my work is in macro or micro scale; and for specific sites. My practice can be individual as well as collective. I believe in co-creation processes, as an individual, I am part of the collective artist group FIBRA ( www.fibracolectivo.com ) and as part of the community, we made a Memory Space with the people of Hualla in Ayacucho, Peru; and with nature, a project with Ostra mushrooms – bio materials.
Peru has been awarded in the World Travel Awards (WTA) 2012 as the best gastronomic destination in the world. It has competed against France, India, Italy, etc. Peru has the biggest food fair in Latin America: Mistura. This fair is visited by half a million people approximately.
On the other hand, the National institute of statistics and IT (INEI) published that in 2012 a Peruvian feeds himself with 63 kg of potato, 47 kg of rice, 24 kg of bread, 17 kg of chicken and almost 7 kg of egg a year; but if we divide these numbers by the days of the year the result will be 170gr of potato, 120gr of rice, 60gr of bread, 5gr of chicken and 2gr of egg. Quantities that I think are scarce and not very nutritious.
Gourmet That’s the reason I proposed to do a tasting in an open space. A well-presented dish was shown, with the amounts given by the INEI.

In the first question, 75% said yes I knew it was the daily ration. For the second 70% answered that did not seem enough. For the third question 75% answered that they thought it was nutritious. In my opinion I think is an insufficient ration and it is not nutritious because it is not balance, has a very high percentage of carbohydrates.
While there is a progress, it does not reach all. There are situations that are highlighted as that gastronomy moment but others are less visible, such as nutrition. In Peru, 2 of 10 children suffer from chronic malnutrition.
